The Moscow Trials
(Film)
Milo Rau / International Institute of Political Murder
In “The Moscow Trials”, the director Milo Rau set up an artistic scenery, in which three traumatic trials against Russian artists and curators came up for trial again. The theater became an agonistic space, in which radically different opinions and positions were confronted with each other. This aggressive and from the outside hardly understandable conflict became something observable for a short moment. After the screening of the film “The Moscow Trials”, Milo Rau discusses with Boris Buden about new nationalism and fundamentalist movements in Europe, opportunists who are willing to use violence and their appropriation of progressive rhetorics.
