Prometheus stole fire from the gods, a powerful tool they wanted to keep to themselves. Angrily, they exiled him and chained him to a rock in the Caucasus. “Anonymous P.” stole data from the mighty, a violent technology they didn’t want to share with man. Angrily, they exiled him to the transit area of the Moscow airport, an embassy in London, an army prison in Fort Meade. But like Prometheus’s liver eaten by the eagle, the data continues to grow.
Facebook knows who you are. Your mobile knows where you are. Google knows what you’re thinking. And PRISM knows everything. In a world where street lights are filming passers-by, 3D facial recognition has become an everyday phenomenon and drones are taking pictures of everything without our noticing, we need new heroes to fight the mighty. Prometheus brought light to humankind. In a time of total transparency,
today, P.’s gift can only be the darkness of anonymity.
„Anonymous P.“’s sophisticated playful performance installation connects the strategies of secret services, the flourishing data trade of commercial companies, our willingness to disclose our most intimate information with stories of modern heroes and the great fiction of the present: privacy.
Supported by IT-specialists, Chris Kondek & Christiane Kühl turn the Impulse Theater Festival into an interactive hacker space, a boot camp for people who want to hide something.
