Discussion of ‘Welt proben: the theatre of Rimini Protokoll’. Or: How postdramatic is postdramatic theatre?

Language: German

The journalist and theatre critic Christine Wahl (editor of ‘welt proben’) talks to Helgard Haug (Rimini Protokoll) and Kathrin Tiedemann (Artistic Director of FFT Düsseldorf and co-editor of ‘Postdramatic Theatre in Portraits’) about Rimini Protokoll’s working processes, their latest work ‘All Right. Good Night.’ and positions within postdramatic theatre.

Helgard Haug, Stefan Kaegi and Daniel Wetzel founded the award-winning theatre label Rimini Protokoll in 2000. Since then, they have worked under this name in a variety of combinations. Rimini Protokoll often develop their stage plays, interventions, scenic installations and audio dramas together with experts who have tested their expertise and ability outside the theatre.

The monograph ‘welt proben’ (“rehearsing the world”) presents their work in the form of interviews, an essay, illustrations and a catalogue of works. It was published in 2021 as the fourth volume in the series ‘Postdramatic Theatre in Portraits’ by Kunststiftung NRW through Alexander Verlag Berlin.

The series of publications ‘Postdramatic Theatre in Portraits’ is an initiative of Kunststiftung NRW published by Alexander Verlag Berlin, edited by Florian Malzacher, Aenne Quiñones and Kathrin Tiedemann.
