Publication: ”Learning from Lockdown?”

The publication is mainly in German. It includes two texts in English by Diya Naidu und Mbene Mbunga Mwambeneare.

Learning from Lockdown? Thoughts about Independent Theatre

Since March 2020 the theatre has spent most of the time in lockdown. On one hand, the cultural lockdown has exposed problems that were already known about or could have been foreseen. On the other hand, it has also heightened awareness of theatre’s unique nature as an art of assembly and encounters and provoked solidary action and unexpected solutions. So: what now? Can we learn also learn something from this crisis? How do we want to continue afterwards?

The publication brings together contributions from independent theatremakers and those in positions of responsibility from the worlds of culture and politics on the insights, ideas and demands that they have gained from the coronavirus crisis. Its themes range from funding policy and a social safety-net through the fundamental right to artistic freedom and digital access to the vulnerability of the body in the theatre space.

With contributions by Jörg Albrecht, Michael Annoff und Nuray Demir, Nora Auerbach und Sonja Laaser, Holger Bergmann, Jan Deck, Daniela Dröscher, Christian Esch, Joy Kristin Kalu, Julian Kamphausen und Susanne Schuster, Sebastian Linz, Meine Damen und Herren, Mbene Mbunga Mwambene, Diya Naidu, Boris Nikitin, Sara Ostertag, Christine Peters, Sibylle Peters, Anja Quickert, Sahar Rahimi, Yves Regenass, Wilma Renfordt, Falk Schreiber, Felizitas Stilleke, Swoosh Lieu, Arne Vogelgesang, Stefanie Wenner.
