What might archives look like in the digital age? What will be archived and how? Who will do the archiving? What won’t be archived? Does art need to be archived? How can art be archived? Who has access to the archive? Do we want to archive things?

These are just some of the questions that we have considered in the course of our project for the Impulse ACADEMY #1 – Making History. While the ACADEMY had to be postponed until next year, we have continued our work – challenged and inspired by the social developments of the last weeks and months.

The outcome has been stapelstapel.org: a platform that belongs to us, is student-run and provides space for our ideas. It exists not only to present completed projects but also to share processes and ways of working and to make these accessible to others. stapelstapel.org is currently showing work by students on the theme of the archive but the plan is that in future it should also be filled with our new projects and that it should exist as a working platform.

You can find the website here.
